Nikon D90 Shot's from the Cascade's!

Shot from Cle Elum Wa.
Cascade Mountain's Shot from Cle Elum, Wa.

I recently spent a few days in Cle Elum Washington visiting family. This is such a beautiful place with snow capped cathedral mountain's, rivers, and wildlife. Here are a few pictures of my favorites and how they were shot.

The first photo above was taken around 5:30pm with the Tamron 17-55 from a freeway overpass just outside of town. Shot at f9 1/125 50mm ISO 400 RAW. Edited in elements 10. This is my current screensaver!

Cooperfalls
Cooper Lake Falls

Image 2, Cooper Falls. This was a hard one to get too. There are no trial signs or markings along the logging road to Cooper Lake to make it easy to find. We used a guys directions from an online posting and after some time we found our way down to the falls. Well worth it as you can see. There was no way to get my tripod out in the middle to get a full-on shoot so I got as far out on a rock as possible and set the tripod up to get the shot. Shot in manual with shutter set to bulb and aperture set to f32 trying to avoid any blowouts. Tamron 17-55mm 2.8, shutter 0.6, ISO 200 17mm on tripod and polarizer used as usual. Edited with elements and HDR added in DynamicPhoto.

cle elum river
Cle Elum River at Salmon La Sac

Image 3 Cle Elum River. Nothing special here but for some reason I just like this. Hand held with the tammy and a splash of HDR added. Aperture priority, F10, 1/60, with polarizer.

wildflower
Tiny Mountain Wildflower

Image 4, Tiny Mountain Wildflower. Woke up to a beautiful morning on the river and snapped on the Tamron 90mm macro lens to see what I could find before breakfast. This little tiny wildflower caught my attention. It was the only one I could see or find. It was just there with one other like it. Being so close to the ground I went hand held and down on my belly to capture. Aperture priority, 90mm, 1/20, flash.

camping on the river night shot.
Best Campsite Ever!

Image 5, Best Campsite Ever. Along the river under snow capped cathedral mountains and now one else for miles. Does it get any better then this? So I pretty much staged this whole shot by putting the lantern in the tent for the glow and got the fire blazing. I then set the D90 up on the tripod. Manual setting, shutter set to bulb, f/4, 17mm, 25 sec, ISO 200.

Thanks for stopping by and looking.....
