Nikon D90 Shot's from the Cascade's!

Shot from Cle Elum Wa.
Cascade Mountain's Shot from Cle Elum, Wa.

I recently spent a few days in Cle Elum Washington visiting family. This is such a beautiful place with snow capped cathedral mountain's, rivers, and wildlife. Here are a few pictures of my favorites and how they were shot.

The first photo above was taken around 5:30pm with the Tamron 17-55 from a freeway overpass just outside of town. Shot at f9 1/125 50mm ISO 400 RAW. Edited in elements 10. This is my current screensaver!

Cooper Lake Falls

Image 2, Cooper Falls. This was a hard one to get too. There are no trial signs or markings along the logging road to Cooper Lake to make it easy to find. We used a guys directions from an online posting and after some time we found our way down to the falls. Well worth it as you can see. There was no way to get my tripod out in the middle to get a full-on shoot so I got as far out on a rock as possible and set the tripod up to get the shot. Shot in manual with shutter set to bulb and aperture set to f32 trying to avoid any blowouts. Tamron 17-55mm 2.8, shutter 0.6, ISO 200 17mm on tripod and polarizer used as usual. Edited with elements and HDR added in DynamicPhoto.

Image 3 Cle Elum River. Nothing special here but for some reason I just like this. Hand held with the tammy and a splash of HDR added. Aperture priority, F10, 1/60, with polarizer.

Tiny Mountain Wildflower

Image 4, Tiny Mountain Wildflower. Woke up to a beautiful morning on the river and snapped on the Tamron 90mm macro lens to see what I could find before breakfast. This little tiny wildflower caught my attention. It was the only one I could see or find. It was just there with one other like it. Being so close to the ground I went hand held and down on my belly to capture. Aperture priority, 90mm, 1/20, flash.

camping on the river night shot.
Best Campsite Ever!

Image 5, Best Campsite Ever. Along the river under snow capped cathedral mountains and now one else for miles. Does it get any better then this? So I pretty much staged this whole shot by putting the lantern in the tent for the glow and got the fire blazing. I then set the D90 up on the tripod. Manual setting, shutter set to bulb, f/4, 17mm, 25 sec, ISO 200.

Thanks for stopping by and looking.....

Nikon D90 Blog - D90 Everything - Were Back.....Finally!

I can't tell you all what a big relief it was today to get my blog back! I really didn't think I'd ever see it again after 2 years online.

Here's the short of a long stressful and successful story......

July 21, 2010 I went to log into my blog and I cant. It says its disabled due to it being a spam blog and sometimes their robots get what they call a false positive which I got? So I'm freaking out after reading this feeling like i just got punched in the stomach for something i don't even know what it was! and the only option i had was to click a button that said restore my blog and here's what i get.“

Blogger’s spam-prevention robots have detected that your blog has characteristics of a spam blog. (What’s a spam blog?) Since you’re an actual person reading this, your blog is probably not a spam blog. Automated spam detection is inherently fuzzy, and we sincerely apologize for this false positive. We received your unlock request on July 21, 2010. On behalf of the robots, we apologize for locking your non-spam blog. Please be patient while we take a look at your blog and verify that it is not spam.

So I start looking for help and find this whole four step process I have to follow to the T, which I quickly do.....As the days are passing I'm kind of depressed as each morning I wake up I look to see if my blog is back on. 6 days have passed and nothing. Then on the 7th day, today I get an email after work that says "your blog has been restored! Thank you for your patience.....Yeah! Those darn robots........

So were back and looking good....I hope i haven't lost many followers and if i have i hope you come back soon...

Starting around the 1st of next month I'm going to have our 2nd photo contest to celebrate getting the blog back and it's new look! I'm thinking the winner will get a new Wireless Remote Control, the Nikon ML-L3! Not sure of the theme yet but if you have some ideas let me know!

Best Wide Angle Lens For the Nikon D90?

Recently I’ve been very intrigued by purchasing a true wide angle lens for my D90. When I say true wide angle I’m talking about anything under 18mm. I see there are a lot of choices out there but after researching a ton of information online it’s definitely apparent you or I will want to get a wide angle lens made specifically for our cameras APS-C type sensor. I read this from Tom Atkins over at Photo.net he said “One of the disadvantages of small sensor APS-C Digital SLR cameras is that the 1.6x multiplier/crop factor makes all your existing 35mm wide-angle lenses into "not so wide" angle lenses.” Our Nikon D90 camera is slightly better, with a 1.5x multiplier/crop, but still basically suffers from the same problem. So here are all the wide angle lenses that are made for our D90 APS-C sensor! If this is not correct please someone let me know, Thanks! I'm personally leaning toward the Tokina 11-16 2.8 right now.
